You’ve probably already checked out Google Earth (if not then go now!) but I’m not sure you’ve come across Flash Earth. For one Flash Earth doesn’t have a global marketing campaign behind it and for two it’s “an experimental application that uses satellite and aerial imagery from online mapping websites without official consent”.
So what’s it all about? Well like Google Earth you can peruse our planet at the click of a mouse, zooming in to pinpoint our own house to zooming out for a world view in just seconds. The difference with Flash Earth is that there’s no need to download any software, it’s a browser based program meaning you’re up and running in a few seconds and it is far less resource consuming than Google Earth. Flash Earth was developed by Paul Neave, it’s an awesome piece of work, go check it out now!
