Carbon-Neutral Travel
REI Adventures claims to offset “100% of the climate-altering carbon emissions generated by air, water and land travel associated with each of our trips.” If you’re looking for an adventure holiday that will have minimum impact on the environment then this could be a possible solution. While this type of initiative is bold and pioneering and in many ways necessary, it is not a solution open to everyone. The high price of this type of eco-holiday will be a deterrant for many on a tight budget. The real eco revolution will come when a company provides a viable cost-effective model for green travel. Nontheless, this is certainly a step in the right direction.
Dispelling the myth about climate change
Climate change has become one of the most discussed subjects of the new millennium, it is high up on the agendas of many of the world’s governments (though some would say not high enough) and it has been the subject of a plethora of scientific reports, journalistic articles, television programs and even making it into the Hollywood film arena with Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth. But there is still a widespread division of opinion over what the causes and consequences or climate change are.
