Audio microblogging hits Twigged!

Dear readers,

This blog has been out of action for quite some time now and that’s partly because I haven’t had the impetus to maintain a written blog. I’m far more interesting in using emerging new media such as video and audio as a way to blog thoughts and ideas and to develop interaction with users.

I’m continuing my quest to find the best free app out there that will allow me to integrate threaded audio discussions into my blog. My aim is to have a setup whereby I can post an audio blog about an idea, an issue or a thought I had and get readers to respond in audio comments. In essence I want to get some real dialogues going. It’s already happening with video conversation thanks to seesmic.com and phreadz.com but it hasn’t happened with audio and I’m surprised.

I’ve been trying out a number of services to get somewhat close to this idea and the majority have been disappointing. I came across uterrli (formerly utterz.com) recently and liked the service they were providing but the site is clearly in development and there are a lot of things that don’t work. Posting directly to this blog from utterli for example is a nightmare and I ended up posting the audi blog myself.

I then discovered Voicethread.com and this has got me really excited, I’m still not sure that it can do what I want yet but I’ll definitely keep anyone reading this posted on my findings. For now, here’s the first audio microblog I did on utterz.
